Windscreen liquid alternatives?

I thought distilled/deionised water was only for the radiator?0

...and a little liquid detergent in it will raise the density slightly and thus give you a liitle more margin before freezing point is reached0

Distilled water is sold in car shops for use in batteries, not screenwash, or radiators.
It's only to clear the windscreen, just like the rain, use tap water, it doesn't have to be boiled or filtered either.
Cleaning products designed for washing up/housework, often have ammonia in, which can damage paintwork, and will have no resistance to freezing.
So in summary, cheap as chips screenwash, and tap water is what you should use in winter, shouldn't cost more than 50p/year, and you only need a very dilute solution for summer use.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
