So for some time (years?) my lenovo laptop has failed to charge the battery. Works fine on mains which is how I use it so no biggie, but periodically I've tried to fix... whatever the problem is....
0% charge and won't recharge.
Anyway I had another go today, following lots of online suggestions (driver etc) and finally removed the battery, then replaced it (as advised on one website) and got the message
"The battery installed is not supported by the system and will not charge. Please replace the battery with the correct Lenovo battery for this system."
!!!!!!!
This is the original battery that came with the laptop from new.........

I'd vote for, your existing battery is so knackered that the inbuilt circuitry no longer functions or a motherboard faultEx forum ambassador

Recharging cells are exhausted. That's why you have to run it off the mains. There is no ability to hold any charge.Lob the battery away and buy a new one. Stop faffing around with online "solutions", because nothing will fix that battery, it is no more, it has ceased to be, it is an ex battery.3

Another vote for no more faffing and either buy a new battery or a new (or recon/used) laptop (Depending on the age - the battery might not be cheap).2

.......then retrieve the battery from the carefully chosen discarded battery receptacle at the approved recycling site, make a note of the part number, then lob it away again.Neil_Jones said:Lob the battery away ..........2 -
How many times do you have to be told the same thing, the battery is dead and won't charge.2

Correct. You can't use that battery because it is so knackered that the laptop can't even identify what it is. That wasn't a problem as long as it remained in the laptop as the battery was already 'known' even if not working.

Sorry - my warped sense of humour. I did get the message. Honest!Farway said:1
