Do airlines have a January sale??

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone knew if airlines have a january sale?

We want to go to Iceland mid February and the prices for flights have gone up so much in the last few weeks but we were waiting for holiday confirmation from our work place.

Anyone have any idea if flights will be on sale in January?

Thanks

  • A colleague of mine is flying to Africa on Christmas Day as the flight is much cheaper because of a lack of demand but regarding flight sales I haven't a clue.

Nobody has genuine January Sales any more, they usually revert their prices to pre= Christmas ones, tho' not usually Airlines, who simply work on a supply / demand basis.
  • February is sometimes a problem as there are school holidays then and you know how they like to rip us off

If they do it's a total marketing ploy to get you to part with your cash when other people are more interesting in attempting to pay back their credit card after the festive splurge.

All airlines work complex yield management pricing structures. As you are probably aware, it's cheaper to fly to mainland spain in the winter during the week than it is on the weekend in summer.

Use tools like skyscanner to get the best deals rather than marketing gump.

If you register with icelandexpress.com they send 24 hours notice by email of sale flights - if you go on as soon as the seats are released you can get a really good deal

February flights would have been released some months ago.

Well I booked a flight to Vegas on 3 January at £389 for travel in November which had cost me £640 booked on 1 December for travel in May so yes, some airlines do have a January sale.

Erm .. hardly a comparison, November flight/May flight??
  • There is always a January BA sale (when their US flights are generally at a low point, even for Feb), but I don't know how the prices compare to cheaper airlines for Iceland...
