Ryanair wheelchair assistance.

I booked flights for my wife and I for the first time in a number of years. My wife uses a manual wheelchair, which I push. I requested assistance with Ryanair from the boarding gate, she then boards the plane by ambulift.  When I rang the assistance number to arrange seating, which I have done many times before, they wanted to charge me for allocated seats at the rear of the plane.

It appears that because I requested assistance from the gate and not through the airport my wife is not considered disabled and not due to free allocated seating to ensure that she sits in a window seat with me, her carer, sat next to her.

I will now make sure I book through the airport.
