Hi
My mom has been sent a tax rebate but the cheque is getting sent to the above company, I’ve had a look through her emails and can’t find anything in relation to her signing up for the above company, my mom has spoken to HMRC and and they have informed that the company will take a ‘cut’ and then send her the rest, how do I stop this in future so they can’t claim for any other future tax years on her behalf
thanks

She needs to send them a letter withdrawing their authority to act.0

You shouldn't need to do anything now, the government announced changes to the law yesterday which will prevent tax refunds being assigned to third party companies.DeanO1994 said:Hi

I'm not sure that's right.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:

The announcement says ''The measure will have effect on 15 March 2023 and will affect assignments of which notice is received by HMRC on or after that date''.
As the OP's mother's assignment has (apparently) already been made, it might not be caught by the legislation. She should write to both HMRC and the company rescinding the company's right to claim on her behalf.0 -
I’m in the same boat unfortunately, with a large amount having already been sent to Nationwide PPI Advice Ltd. No phone numbers that work (disconnected) and I can’t find an email.I realise this new legislation won’t help me with this but will it stop any further tax rebates being sent out to them?0
