I would go 90deg bend outside the box (LHS) then 90deg bend into the box on LHS in front of regulator and red tap, and connect to right of red tap inside box

    Should not be too expensive

The job to rectify the pipe that is in the way looks rather simple to resolve - so much so that I'm rather surprised the competent gas fitter that was there to exchange the meter didn't offer to sort it out there and then for cash...

The fact the fitter did not do so might suggest there is more to it that really is not evident from the photos.

A meter fitter is not a competent gas fitter. If they were we would not be hearing of all these meter fitting failures.

had the boiler serviced today by my go to gas engineer. £80.00ish for the work needed to sort the meter box pipe work. not too bad and may as well get it done i think. cheers all for your inputs.
