ASOS refusing refund or repair/ replacement

I purchased some £250 boots from ASOS on the 10th of Jan. After light usage the zip broke and I requested a return on the 28th Feb.
They are saying it is outside the return window (which it is) but I believe that as the boots weren't cheap they should last more than 6 weeks! I am left £250 down with boots I can't use.
I paid using my credit card on paypal. Any advice please? TIA

@born_again will hopefully confirm whether or not you have any Section 75 rights with a Paypal payment to ASOS.
With regards to ASOS any faults within 6 months are taken to be present so they should be sorting it out (or demonstrating you broke the zip, that's not to imply you did
)
Out of interest is there the possibility of repair at a local shoe repair shop?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Have you opened a case with Paypal?0

I will take them to my local shoe repairers tomorrow and see what they say.
I haven't opened a case with PayPal yet as I just wanted some advice on the best way forward.
Thanks for your comments x0 -
Start with PayPal.
Get the repairer to provide a written report on the problem. Gives you something to go back to ASOS with under consumer rights.
As to S75. Would need to talk to bank on that. As a lot depends on if you paid being logged into your account, or as guest.Life in the slow lane0 -
You say you requested a return, but did you actually contact them and state the boots are faulty and I would like a repair/replacement/refund?4
