Tv license refund

Options
Hi

i bought a tv license on the 30th January. I didn’t enjoy the content and cancelled it on the 3rd of March. I have asked for a refund, and they have refunded me now less than what I expected. They have charged me the equivalent to 3 months

Is that right? I started on January and cancelled in March, but I have not had 3 months of tv license. In fact, I am still in March, I have been charged for this month
 but I don’t have a license anymore.

You used the service for three separate calendar months, so charged for three calendar months. Like any monthly service you don't pay by the day, you pay by the month, this includes part months. Car tax works the same way as do many other things that are based on calendar months. You just purchased it at the wrong time.

I do feel for you, but it is the British Blackmailing Corporation, would you expect any less? Steel yourself for the barrage of letters next.
  • So it means I can still watch tv till end of March, isn’t it? If I have paid for the whole month, I still have this service

I would assume as you already paid for the month you can use it but to get a definite answer you would need to speak with TV Licencing.

You can still watch a TV without a licence... you just cant watch live content or use BBC iPlayer. So if you use your TV for DVDs, catchup or on-demand content you would not need a licence anyways.

    Fixed that for you.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

No fix required. Most people see legally as the norm, not the exception.
