With hindsight, it would have been better to register the LPA's before my dad got sick and was in hospital. At that time, as family we are busy visiting the hospital every day and worrying about money and how to pay for things. Mum managed, but she was worred a lot of the time.You can never predict the path of sickness and your response to it.Edited to add:If you are the attorney or the donor, you would be well advised to at least find out the procedure required by the financial institution for registering LPA's. Whether a bank visit is required.It is not just mental incapacity to consider. If there is physical incapacity and a branch visit is required, that makes things a lot more difficult. Especially if the bank wants the donor to come into branch to prove identity after making a mistake when talking through the bank's identity verifiation process.0
