Amazon Refusing a refund

I returned a soundbar and subwoofer to Amazon over 6 weeks ago via Evri - Evri have confirmed in writing that they collected both components and the combined weight, however, Amazon 1st stated that they had only received the subwoofer but now are stating that the soundbar box was empty, which is slanderous, - I am owed £700 but keep being told they wont refund until soundbar is received - HELP somebody please!!

Who paid for and arranged the return delivery?
It's not "slanderous" (sic) as that is spoken words. Nor is it libel. Chances are they did receive an empty box and someone from either EVRI or their own warehouse took it. They're not saying you took it. They're just saying the box was empty and they haven't received it.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)5 -
The delivery was arranged via Amazon returns - many thanks for your comments extremely helpful (NOT)!0

Sometimes the most helpful advice is that which you least wish to hear!Spoon2578 said:The delivery was arranged via Amazon returns - many thanks for your comments extremely helpful (NOT)!7 -
What's slanderous (or even, libellous) about it? They're stating a fact which is that the box was empty when they opened it. Having a pop at people volunteering their time to advise isn't a great start...
Since Amazon arranged the return, it's their responsibility to deal with Evri. I can fully understand why Amazon aren't immediately refunding £700 until they have concluded their investigation. If all of their systems and checks point to the conclusion that you didn't pack the soundbar, they're not going to refund you. If it's more ambiguous, they might.
If you paid by card, you could deal with your card provider and see if they can help, but if they can, you'll perhaps have your Amazon account closed and your address blacklisted. You'll need to weigh up whether it's worth waiting in the hope that Amazon concludes in your favour, or act now to get your money back asap.4 -
By all means start a court case for libel. Will cost you at least £20,000 in fees and you'll lose.Spoon2578 said:The delivery was arranged via Amazon returns - many thanks for your comments extremely helpful (NOT)!

What was unhelpful about my response? I asked a sensible question about who organised delivery.Spoon2578 said:The delivery was arranged via Amazon returns - many thanks for your comments extremely helpful (NOT)!
I then quite rightfully pointed out that their comment was not at all libellous as they have not actually accused you of anything. They just stated the box was empty.
As the contract with the courier is their responsibility as they organised it, then I suggest you contact your card provider to get a refund as you can prove the parcel has been received. You can use the weight when it was dropped off to prove that you sent back an item not an empty box. It will then be up to Amazon what they do next. I guarantee they will close your account. They might then try taking you to court.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

It's not even that. They made a statement to the OP in private. As it's not been made in public and it was sent directly to the OP, it cannot be considered defamation.Aylesbury_Duck said:What's slanderous (or even, libellous) about it? So, where is the actual or serious harm, OP?0
