I currently had 12 months to run on a 24 month broadband contract. I received a letter from stating the increase in my monthly broadband charges were going to be £6.19 a month. Checking on my account page there were a number of offers the cheapest being £3 for a slightly better speeds for another 24 months. I phoned BT and contacted the 'retention dept' (It’s the think of leaving use option). I checked with the helpful person who answered that if I took out a new 24 month contract with BT with the £3 offer would that incur the inflation raise. It was confirmed that it would not.

I then did the same thing with my father’s account and took out a new contract for 24 month on his lowest offer, an extra £1 a month instead of £3.

This does mean another 24 month contract but I have limited options for other suppliers so a cheeky trick for reducing the price increase.
