Child Allowance end....

Hi Everyone

My son is 18 and doing A levels at college.
He will be going to University in August/September

Do I have to contact child support to stop child allowance?
When do I have to do this?  (end on college (june?) or when he starts University)

What do you mean by child allowance?

Do you mean child benefit, child tax credit?

You will need to report the changes when they leave college and i believe child benefit then stops at the end of August.

When I've had a child due to leave after A-levels, I've always been sent a letter about it.

Yes but changes also need to be reported because the son will be leaving FTE.

f your child’s circumstances change

Child Benefit stops on 31 August on or after your child’s 16th birthday if they leave approved education or training.

Tell the Child Benefit Office if your child:

• stays in education or training
• later leaves education or training
