Faulty gas meter

Background: My gas meter has been ‘stuck’ on the same reading for several months. As soon as I noticed I contacted my energy supplier via email to alert them. They eventually acknowledged that this was the case and advised that an engineer would need to visit the property. I then booked an engineer appointment over the phone but nobody turned up on the day.
Question: I could contact the energy company again to rebook the appointment but I am getting pretty tired of chasing them. It is their responsibility to ensure a working meter at the end of the day. If I do nothing are there any consequences to me ‘taking no further action’? As I understand it they can charge based on estimated usage but only up to 12 months ago (so if enough time passes I could start to save?) Grateful for any thoughts or advice.

If the meter started leaking and you called the gas emergency service on 0800111999, and there was a PEMs contract in place, theyd just replace it and the index they would record would be the removed indexFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..1

Sorry if I am being a bit slow but I don’t fully understand your reply. Would you mind expanding on your point?C_Mababejive said:If the meter started leaking and you called the gas emergency service on 0800111999, and there was a PEMs contract in place, theyd just replace it and the index they would record would be the removed index

Is it a L&G G470 smart meter by any chance?Ashleysaves said:Background: My gas meter has been ‘stuck’ on the same reading for several months. I've got the same problem, my gas meter reading is stuck. I only found out when British Gas issued their statement and I saw just how far in credit I was (I pay by DDM). I have contacted them and an engineer will be calling in 18 days - so not urgent then.Surely their computer system should realise something is wrong. My smart meter is working fine.0
