Outfox the Market economy 7 times

We've been with OFTM for several years on an economy 7 type tariff. Noticed last Christmas that the meter wasn't changing between cheap and standard rates as we expected. According to our meter It seems our 'cheap' period runs from around 4am to 11.30 am meaning we had largely been using the more expensive rate overnight for dishwasher and washing machine etc.
Thinking this was wrong we contacted OFTM. They ignored the question and answered something else. Tried again and they told us the hours were midnight to 7am. Tried again and they asked for a 'kettle test'. Sent the readings and photos of the meter before and after the test which demonstrated our point. We had an unintelligible reply so emailed with a step by step explanation....and received nothing since. We are now 3 months down the line and no wiser.
It appears the meter is working fine so don't understand the apparently cheap rate which I can't find mentioned anywhere else on the internet generally.
Surely it is reasonable to expect the provider to know precisely when the cheap rate runs from and to and whether the meter is working properly?
Has anyone experienced this problem and cheap rate hours?

Hi,would seem that time switch is out. Those times are to your advantage now, still getting 7 hours at cheap rate, but at a more suitable time, can do washing in morning now, and heaters warmer into evening now.3

Unless you are tele-switched, the off peak E7 hours are determined by the DNO. The supplier has no control over them. Typically midnight to 7am, or 1am to 8am when the clocks go forward.
If the time switch on your meter is that far out and it's disadvantageous to you, the quick solution is to get smart meters installed. No free lunch, and no free laptop1
