Refund back to loan balances or refund to my account?

Hi everyone. I recently realised I've been paying repayments occasionally despite being under the threshold. I contacted SLC via Twitter and they've come back to me with the wrong calculations on what I've overpaid and also they stated the following 'I would advise if you request a refund for these amounts, the amounts that are refunded will be added back to your loan balances as they are subject to repayments again.'
Is that correct? I expected to be repaid personally, not just have the repayments added again to my student loan. It's unlikely I'll be going above the threshold any time soon, so that's really disappointing.

Obviously if you are refunded overpayments then you get the refund in your bank account and your loan balance increases again by the amount you've no longer repaid.crazysunshine54 said:Hi everyone. That's what I'd have thought, but from the wording of their response it gave me the impression that I don't actually receive a repayment to my bank account.

They were just pointing out that your loan balance will increase in case you'd rather it didn't.crazysunshine54 said:Ed-1 said:
