    My car is 1998.

    10 years old isn't old.
Some of that stuff is consumables e.g. tyres and brakes.
A new car will depreciate a lot more than £1500 in a year (depending on what you get).

Needs more detail but on the face of what we have it doesn't sound terminal to me.

You should expect more issues as the car get older but do split out the consumable items and do compare with depreciation on a newer car (several K's per year depending on what you have).

If it does have a main dealer service in the last 12 months Toyota warranty may cover some of the work.
    On a 10 year old car ?
Toyota provide a one year warranty after every main dealer service up to 10 years or 100,000 miles.

    Hi
    Thanks you for sharing that

The warranty, surely not for consumables?  Tyres wear, perish and brakes wear. Not having a go at you as these may be covered but I dont think thy would be

    Thnak you :)

I don't think any warranty would cover consumables, but it may cover the radiator leak and any other non wear-and-tear faults that need addressed.

Unfortunately any warranty is academic because it's just over a year since my last car service.  This was at my Toyota main dealer who pronounced my car perfectly healthy then.  This year they found so many expensive-to-fix faults on a visual inspection that I was allowed to take it away again without charge and left wondering if my car was worth repairing.

Yesterday I took it to my local small garage for its MOT and it passed!!!  I was flabbergasted.  Some of the faults picked up by the Toyota Main Dealer were notified as advisories (and will be put right as soon as I can get a service slot there) but the Main Dealer had given me a completely false impression of how serious the faults were and indicated them as "red flag" items which they implied must be fixed before my car could pass an MOT.

Something very fishy is going on at my main dealer under their new management.

It's well worth building up a relationship with your local small garage, they will get to know you and your car.
Stay away from any 'free health checks' at Toyota main dealers. They will assess it against a brand new car rather than a used 10 year old one.

My car is a hybrid and hybrids were new in 2013 when my car was new.  So I got into the habit of taking it to the main dealer for a service, a habit I did not break until now.

I'm not sure if it's what you mean but I certainly wouldn't be taking it to the main dealer to have any of those issues fixed. A small local garage will be much better price and at 10 years old the main dealer service really isn't necessary.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Yes, I've learned my lesson about taking my car to a main dealer if it can be avoided.  I didn't suffer financially but it was quite an emotional roller-coaster thinking that my car might be close to being beyond economic repair then seeing it get through its MOT with no work required.
