  • Beware of hot water cylinders with internal expansion space. You cannot clean that segment or rinse it out. There is a floating baffle with polystyrene and the walls etc that can and will harbour bacteria.

    • Very Cold Outside + Big Difference between Indoor Room Temp and Setpoint (e.g. when the heating first comes on on a Winter morning)= Max Flow Temp"
This is exactly how I imagined I would "program" it, if I could write a script for it. Actually I would ignore the "outside", because the outside does not necessarily relate to "inside", it is just a hint. The room thermostat is what matters in my opinion.

I am thinking aloud, can the boiler not use the flow and return temp as an indication of how much heat is being given out into the rooms - the lower the return the more heat we have dispersed into the rooms and surely we want to maximise the heat we are giving. When the ambient approaches room thermostat setting then we can slow down and lower the flow temp?

I was not thinking about it cos I been renovating a lot lately and cant efford it really but it is not copper and not has any insulation on outer shell. I was thinking in my head to somehow make my own insulation and wrap the boiler around but probably 1) won't make a different 2) may risk of overheating? 3) I am just overthinking it lol.
So for now that cylinder needs to say and will have to get somebody to check it out soon.
If I replace it in near future then it be one of the fast recovery and we'll insulated ones for sure.
This is the tank I have: model PP170B
    any thoughts?

There is insulation ( that you can not see) inbetween the outer shell and an inner shell.

If you had an uninsulated tank and you had water in there at 70 degree, it would probably burn your hand to touch the tank. The fact that probably all you will feel is some slight warmth is proof the insulation is working.

I think you are probably potentially going to spend so much money on the whole system, that by the time you get the payback you will be long gone ( either from the house or life on Earth)
