Split up with partner - arranging finances

Options
Hi, I've just split up with my partner, it's amicable but I'm staying in the house and she's moving out. I've agreed to pay her for the money she's spent on the house and was looking to do it on a monthly basis. Understandably she was looking to have it formalised in case things become less amicable.

My question is short of a solicitor drafting an agreement is there anything we can do that will formalise me paying her x amount per month for an agreed period?

Not really.  Get a solicitor in now.  It could save your skin later.

Do you have a couple of mutual friends that would agree to witness and sign a document saying you are going to pay £X a month for Y months?

Draft out a document that you and your (ex) partner agree on, then get the two witnesses to witness you both signing it, and they sign it too.

Take time to draft a sensible agreement, making it clear what happens if you miss a payment (e.g. house being sold, valuation done by 3 estate agents so you can't list it at a ridiculously high price).
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Is there no way you could raise the money through other means and pay her in one lump sum?  Means everyone can move on that bit quicker
