PS I did vote for CF as I have a lung condition myself and know how uncomfortable that can be.0

It would be useful to know what percentage of contributions to each of these charities went on administration costs. Apart from trawling through each individual website, does anyone know of a site that lists such information for all charities? Thanks! There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0

This is an interesting point and I can only answer for the charity that I nominated which is UNAFUND.
So far, all expenses have been paid by the donations of a loyal band of members who receive periodic reports of progress and cooperate in the organisation of fund raising events. We raise money for the administration costs by holding car boot sales, charity market stalls, Spring/Summer/Christmas fairs at local schools or churches and other events such as pool competitions.
If anyone would like to know more about UNAFUND or knows anyone who could benefit from our services please use the link to our website for contact details.
Thank you0 -
When does voting end?
Just a-wondering.

I am really sorry that the short list has beentaken down to 7, I was a bit confused as I was looking at the list thinking, "It said 14 and that is only 7" My poor brain!
Anyway, I don't want to sound mean and callous but I dpn't know who to vote for! The guys on the longer list, some of those I really couldn't pick between and now I feel bad because I can't pick the one I feel is most deserving in terms of who it is helping... am I thinking too much?oooh look only about 220 posts and I got round to doing my Avatar already!!0 -

Martin - if you are out there and listening, can I humbly request that SSAFA goes back on the list as I am aware of rumblings around the Services that this is up for a vote (this would explain a late rush for SSAFA in the voting) and moves are afoot across the Services to help this website out? :A0 -
The shortlist is down because it means less votes are wasted so more can make a decision. The truth is the others were never going to win i'm afraid - the gap was already way too wide so i wanted to concentrate peoples mind.

Why are the majority of the charities foreign based? This county has MANY problems with plenty of charities trying to resolve them. Many of these are under funded because the finite charitable donations by the British public are going overseas. We now have yet more of a drain (after the tsunami appeal) due to Live 8. Let’s show a bit of patriotism and start resolving our own issues before looking to solve the rest of the worlds.0
