How many Spotlights in Bathroom?

I'm getting my bath replaced with a shower and of course a new sink and toilet.

At present the bathroom is lit with a single 8 watt LED bulb in a bayonet fitting in the middle of the ceiling.

How many spotlights/downlights  should I fit in the ceiling, the bathroom is approx 6ft by 6ft?

It's a small room, maybe two LED spots would do, but I'd probably go for four. Typical GU10 LED spots have quite a narrow beam, hence my suggestion of 4. Gives you a bit more flexibility.

It isn't just about how many, it is about where you put them.  We have them over our bath, shower cubicle and over the vanity for starters.  The some others to 'balance' the aesthetics.

Two symmetrically over the basin half way between where your head would be and the wall/mirror to avoid casting showers. One over shower (or two if a bath). You can buy waterproof fittings or a "showerlite" if you want to integrate an extractor fan.

I would avoid putting them directly over the bath as they shine in your eyes when you are laying in it. and some of the cold white LED spotlights can be quite fierce.

Really a bathroom that small only needs 2 or 3 to completely light it

We have 4 in a similar space. One of them is an extractor with an inbuilt light that goes over the shower. It's on a separate switch to the other 3 so we don't have to have the extractor on when it's not needed.

Replacing the bayonet fitting with an ip44 ceiling light would be far simpler and cheaper and is likely to give a better light.
