Bright App is owned by Hildebrand. It markets its own IHD/CAD which can provide near real-time smart meter data. As a technology company, Hildebrand has had to jump through the DCC hoops to develop its own bespoke Adapter software to permit secure access to your smart meters.Pat38493 said:
So maybe it's "normal" then then on BRIGHT I don't see any data yet 48 hours after setting it up? The message on the screen says it can take "up to 24 hours".Mstty said:
Loop is a bit glitchy and sometimes needs closing and restarting on android devices. It is however updated with usage quicker than Bright. Bright looks the nicer of the two products.nobby1963 said:I’ve just registered with Loop and first impressions are good.
I only found out about them & Bright on here and went for Loop over Bright based on App Store reviews.
Time will tell.
We have both
I'm also curious what is the business model of these apps? I'm not clear why they are doing this for free as it appears they are part of a commercial company rather than some kind of community freeware project. In future, price comparison websites will use 12 month’s worth of actual smart meter data to identify the cheapest tariff for a particular consumer (both in terms of annual usage and when the energy is used). MSE and other price comparison websites will either have to produce their own Adapter software or party with a company like Hildebrand. Presumably, Bright gives them considerable evidence that their data retrieval service works.1 -

I did start to get some partial data through now - just the last couple of days and no tariff data so far.[Deleted User] said:

What does their IHC/CAD do that the British Gas one doesn't? My British Gas IHD also provides real time data (although on some days it's wrong).0
