Booking.com / credit card claim

Long story short(ish)

October 22 I made a booking through booking.com for a hotel in US and had $500 deposit charged to my credit card (no problems)

23rd Jan 23 I received a message via booking.com to say my booking was cancelled (no big deal, these things happen)

I sent a message to the hotel via booking.com asking for refund...no response

I sent a message to booking.com asking for assistance...was told to wait 30days

24th Feb, I called booking.com and was asked to submit credit card statement proving payment which I did

1st March received email from booking.com saying proof had been forwarded to hotel

11th March received email from booking.com asking for the same proof again

I've submitted the proof again and will wait for a few days but am losing faith that it will be resolved.

The hotel stay which was cancelled was for April 23

Am I able to claim via credit card given the timings and the fact that the hotel (who took the payment) are US based?
