PR-100 Trail Cam

I'm asking this for a friend, who has asked me to help. They have bought a PR-100 trail cam, although the instructions are in English, it looks as though it is a translation, and half of it doesn't make sence to them. They are saying that the sd card needs to be formated with the date and time, before it can be used on the camera. They are saying,"it needs the date and time putting on to the SD card so that the camera is activated to work and to tell the camera how many pics or video to take fir what length in time I think". We have a trail camera, and didn't have to do any of this, as it was all done on the screen, when we switched the camera on. The other problem for them, is they don't have a PC, or a laptop, only an iPad. I would have thought the camera date stamped the footage as it was recorded. Any help in this would be appreciated.

That's my thoughts exactly, however it's better than no knowing anything....😄
