Can I do the inventory check myself?

I have a small and unfinished flat and I am wondering if self inventory check is good or not.
Do the landlords like me usually instruct an inventory professional or do it themselves?

I think you should finish it before letting a tenant move in.3

Depends on if your inventory (and photos - including walls, ceilings, floors, outside of property and garden) are shared with tenant (for comments) then accepted by deposit protection scheme if there is a dispute.
Tenant is if course entitled to (indeed advised) to do their own inventory and photos.
Just because an "independent" person dies it doesn't mean it will be good, nor that it will be accepted by deposit scheme.
Ll should do low quality snaps for check in, high quality for check out. Tenant v v. (Think about it...)0 -
As log as your inventory is thorough ad detaild, no reason why not doit yourself.
Or employ an inventory clerk:
The AIIC (Association of Independant Inventory Clerks)

You have an asset so why not try your best to protect that asset !
Paying for an Independent Video Inventory is tax deductible and like all the other things you need to get it right !
Right to Rent
How to Rent
Deposit and prescribed information
GSC
EICR
PAT testing
Fit for Habitation
Fire safety
CO and Fire alarms
Fire Blanket
Meter readings and Video showing the Fire Blanket, Smoke and CO alarms proves there were in the property when the tenant moved in
Get a new EPC if less than 5 years on old one0 -

Doing it yourself is better than nothing, but an inventory done by an independent person is far more persuasive in the event of a dispute at the end of the tenancy, and the renter refers it to the deposit scheme dispute service.I self manage and self let, which both save a fortune. But I don’t do the inventory myself.Openrent offer good value inventories. It’s tax deductible and is fair for you and the renters0
