    I did ask her about isolating the toilet and she doesn’t think there is an isolation valve but I’ll suggest she has another look as I think she was presuming rather than checking.

    Managed to get the stopcock turned off with a lot of WD40 and turning on and off.  :) 

    Weekend away still on then we can have a proper look at everything else suggested tomorrow. And hopefully by Monday her normal plumber will be able to get back to her. 

    Thank you all for the suggestions,  much appreciated. And I am going to have a look at the watermain, see what type of tap it is and buy a turny off thingy if I need to.

    Not sure where you are but welsh water have started offering free repairs for leaking toilets
