Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on Ultrasonic Cat Deterrents.

We have searched on line and you get quite a lot of choices.

We like cats and mean no harm, just that it isn't pleasant gardening and finding poo.

These are two cats from the house next door. We have tried household pepper sprinkled, chili pepper, and pepper of sort that you buy from Garden Centres.

We watched one of the cats this morning walk around the garden to find a spot where there was no snow to go about it's business there.  :/

  • Hi, I bought one last summer as next doors cat had started using our narrow side return as a toilet. I was a bit sceptical but it really worked, it omits a clicking noise depending on how high you tuned the frequency and has a motion sensor. I bought it from the big river company, it’s green with a spike, I think I remember it being around £24. It worked so well, once the habit was broken, I gave it to my daughter who also has a problem with neighbourhood cats.

    Hi
    How long battery lasts, please?
i'm aware that will also depend on the battery make you use and how often the cat/s came there
    Thnaks in advance

Hi, I had a few and they never worked - I'm convinced cats actually liked it  :/
I then got this mat with plastic stickies and it was great! It doesn't harm them, they can still walk past, but it's super uncomfortable for cats if they stay on for too long (to poo) haha

Thank you both for the two suggestions. I'll look into both of them.

I bought some from Lidl and they are solar powered.
They worked for people down the road but as my cats are next door they just walk somewhere the things don't reach.
I even collected the poo in a bucket and left it among the plants but they just avoid that too - as does the neighbour.
I've now been next door to feed the cats. Wonder if they will now avoid my garden as they view it as part of their terrority? Too cold for them to come out at the mo.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

  • In the snow, I found cat tracks across my lawn to my heather bed for a poo and another set of tracks after the poo stop leading off in another direction. The cat had deliberately walked to the heather bed for a poo stop. I would love to find something that really works as I have lost lot of plants due to cats.

Hi, we used rechargeable batteries. They lasted a good few weeks before needing to be recharged.

Used them in our old house.  We used to have a lot of cats coming and pooping in our garden, ours being the only house without cats!  A few stopped after these were installed the others carried on.   I tried loads of other tricks, but the thing which seemed to do the trick was Urine.  I used to pee in a bottle and scatter it in the garden   :)
