is there any way to make cheap mobile calls when calling home from abroad?

Does anyone know if there is a cheap (or cheaper) way of calling home from abroad using one's mobile phone? I've just returned from Egypt and called home for around 20 minutes of voice calls and have just received my bill for £55.40 from T Mobile even though I still had more than 100 'free' minutes still remaining on my monthly call allowance which I am entitled to as a contract customer. It must me illegal to charge that much, surely!

Hi, i thought you got in touch with your mobile company for advice before you went abroad. They redirect the calls somehow (I think)0
