Insure a car that is not used but cannot SORN

Hello,

I have a car that I am not going to use this year but I cannot SORN it as do not have a place to park it off road.

I seem to not be able to find a way to do so reasonably cheaply. The car is not super expensive, so, I would not need a comprehensive insurance, but it seems the 3rd part only one is even more expensive than comprehensive!

What would be the best way to insure it?

TPO/TPFT is often more expensive than Comp because of negative selection and reduced competition (several insurers no longer offer it).

Hows best to insure it really depends on why you are stopping using it... if its just saving money / you've broken your leg so can't drive or if you've bought a new car and just waiting a bit before selling your old one.

For the former just get quotes in the normal way. Be aware that ultra low mileage declarations can result in higher premiums than if you were doing 5,000 miles a year in it.

The car engine got broken and I do not see myself financially fit to fix it this year. Plus, it is a good opportunity to try to go car-free as I don't need to go to office any more with the remote work, but mostly the engine part.

A car parked on a road without an MOT can be reported and towed, and it doesn't sound like the car would pass one!  So your best bet might be to look around for someone would would tow your car somewhere and store it if you don't want to just sell it.
