Hi all,

i am looking for a good quality non stick pan that stays flat when heated .
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Get a good cast iron one, season it properly and then look after it!  That will give you a good non-stick finish (without the dodgy chemicals) and last you for the rest of your life.   Even better, find an old cast iron one at a junk shop or at auction, clean it up and give it a new life.  Sometimes the old technology really is the best.

Often "pancake pans" are thicker material because to get great pancakes you need the pan very hot with inadequate content to take the heat away.

My favourite pan ATM is VITA+VERDE. It's aluminium, thick, non-stick - with white ceramic coating (THERMOLON). It was a gift from friends. I checked today and was surprised by the prices and by the fact that people sell them second hand on ebay.
My hob is ceramic, so it's instantly visible when a pan isn't flat and has downwards curvature. Upwards curvature is more difficult to detect, but I never noticed it, e.g. from oil distribution.
That sad, I read the OP's post before it was edited, know the full story and the OP's explanation of what happened doesn't look plausible to me.

Thanks all, i'll look these products up.

The one i have, its very clear that the centre rises upward even under moderate heat as the oil retreats to the inner rim. As such , the base contact with the pan supports (gas hob) gets much less. You can actually feel it. When pan is cold, it feels solid and secure on the pan support with good friction. When it heats and curves, less contact and it slides around very easily, hence its unscheduled departure onto the kitchen floor !

Ikea 365+ fry pans are very good.  Nearly as good as the Schulte-Ufer one that came free in a set of pans with my Bosch induction hob and costs over 5 times the price.
Handle is a bit cheaply made.
But the pans are cheap enough to replace if/when the non stick gets damaged.

Get induction compatible pans as they tend to have thicker bases so less likely to warp.

But do go and try the pans in the flesh... some just feel 'wrong' or may be too heavy to start with, let alone with food in.

I can vouch for all these makes from personal experience; Stellar, Circulon, Schulte-Ufer and Silverwood.

I've been impressed with the last Tefal frying pan I bought. It stays completely flat, and the non-stick coating seems very robust.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

We have a Tefal Jamie Oliver premium series (there are lots of different ones so do check if you are contemplating buying) and it is the most robust frying pan we have had.  We do have a Lodge cast iron but it is a fag to look after.  We use a Le Creuset griddle which is excellent.  All are induction suitable.

Any decent pan will remain flat when heated.  I've used Tefal and Woll pans and never had any problem with either make.
