Denied Contents Insurance Quote Aviva

I have just done two new contents quotes and they cam back were unable to inure you online or over the phone. I'm a bit lost as own my own property and never had a claim in 5 years. My current policy expires in June so was looking around. Nothing seems wrong on my credit file either. Soft search was showing by them. Nothing has changed since my policy last year that was with Santander

    Unattractive insurer postcode/area?

    What about other insurers?

Either you have entered something wrong (such as construction type) and fall outside of the bounds of their underwriting, or maybe the property is now in a high risk group for some reason (e.g. flooding or subsidence).

Try some others insurers through a comparison site.

Is it possible it's just too far ahead for a quote? 🤔

I put in the furthest date it's allowed. I am in one of those building where cladding has to be done but that's been ongoing for few years. Also my current santander policy underwritten by them is still valid

Aviva are not on comparison sites (Direct Line are the same) so they won't come up.

Also, the Aviva direct to customer business is a completely different business segment  to 3rd party underwriting and will have different risks which are acceptable. So you could easily get a policy underwritten but not directly purchasable.

    Hi OP

Aviva are a great ins co we were with them for many years for cars and properties. Thankfully we never needed to test their metals for a claim

They, the ins, IMO does not like risk of more than xx percent and if you don't meet that criteria, they wont quote or a very high quote even though you may be the most honest person i your town and very sensible but they dont see it as a risk worth taking.

Others will be falling overthemselves for your business, so save money and go with them

    Good luck

    :)

If you want to stay with Aviva it seems likely that Santander will offer you a renewal price a few weeks before the expiry of your current policy, although it's likely to be higher than some of the comparison site prices (but you do need to compare like for like and take insurer service into account).

You don't hear that very often!

That may explain why then ;)
