    Yes, they're a nightmare.

The panels were installed here in March 2014, we moved here in September 2021, by December 2021 bird mesh was fitted.

    I couldn't stand it.

We have had two more arrays fitted in the last month and bird mesh is a no brainer!

I've not had any birds under my panels but I imagine about £10 for a role of wire mesh and an hour up a ladder and I'd have saved £400-600.

If you're not getting any benefit from the panels just let the birds nest, when the panels stop working because they're pecked the wires they will have to come and sort them at their own expense

I had some more panels fitted on Saturday.

There was a problem with clips for the bird mesh so it wont be fitted until tomorrow.

The pigeons moved in on Sunday!

I'm not sure how many are up there now, but it's at least three pairs of pigeons.

I would advise anybody having solar panels to have bird mesh fitted, if you have had to have scaffolding for the panels you will probably regret not having the mesh fitted.

Pigeons under your panels are a nightmare!

Maybe it has something to do with a type of roof, tiles or location? It's been nearly 10 years now for our roof and no pigeons, even though they wander about the garden every day 🤷‍♀️

Many gardens get wood pigeons, they don't tend to like solar panels so much, probably too big. It's the smaller "town pigeons" or rock doves that lurk under panels.

I had wood pigeons in my garden for years, and they never caused any problems.  Then a flock of feral pigeons moved in to the area, and it wasn't long before they found the solar panels.
Even with the spikes fitted, they are still hanging around and blocking the gutters with their mess.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

My son has panels on a house he rents out. The tenants were being plagued by pigeons so we paid £500 to have them done. Some starlings moved in through the new mesh but no more complaints so maybe they are less annoying. The worst thing was the debris that blocked the drains when it rained hard. Next door did it themselves and it looks fine. I was worried we might damage the panels so we paid the money.

You are right, they are wood pigeons, docile and very fat!

(Funny how I lived half my life and never before realised these were different, had to google photos of wood and feral pigeons!)

My bird mesh was finally fitted on Thursday, I am so happy.

    The pigeons are gone.

No pigeons were harmed as they were `out' when the mesh was fitted.
