What does 3.5*  5.0* mean . is that your radiator setting
Zandoni  above has noticed people say 60 degrees is too low on very cold days and i think so far thats looking true.

Some boilers have a dial to set the water temperature but they don't tell you what temperatures they relate to. Some have numbers, mine simply has min, eco and max..

Yes, the 3.5* or 5.0* are the boiler flow temps / dial on my boiler.

Thanks @Markin...I couldn't remember my boiler to even look it up. D'oh.

"As the many adverts say - turn your boiler down to 60 degrees and save money."

Yes, it will, in theory, but what they fail to add is that doing it is not recommended for non combination boilers.

Why is it not recommended for non combination boilers?  I only ask because I don't have a combi any longer and I recently turned mine down to 60 degrees
Because if the cylinder set temperature is higher than the boiler flow temperature, the boiler will never switch off, it will just cycle. I run my system boiler at 50C with a cylinder temperature of 55C. With my present tariffs it is cheaper for me to top up the boiler with solar plus grid rather than use gas.

My WB Greenstar 15Ri (conventional condensing) has no flow temp. display nor numbers on the control knob. Only a black "tapered" line from min. to max.
I do have two clip on rotary thermometers on the flow and return, directly above the boiler, to give some indication.

I used a couple of food probes and some black tape, at least it gave me a rough idea of the temperatures.
