CTS law occupier letter

Hello

First post this seemed to be the best place to ask.

We have just had a cts law letter before court.

It's addressed to the occupier and we have never used people's energy. Maybe previous occupant.

Is it worth contacting or best ignoring as they don't have our details?

If you are absolutely certain you were not a customer of People's Energy - when you moved in you opened an energy account with the current incumbent supplier of the property and did not bring your old supplier with you - then I would just ignore for the moment.  They cannot take "the occupier" to court.

If it's an energy company, then who was the supplier on the day you moved in?  It takes time to switch to a different supplier.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Will have to find out as far as I'm aware we switched as soon as we moved in

That’s not how it normally works, you would have been on a deemed contract with the existing supplier when you moved in at which point you are free to switch, so it is very likely you own them from the date you moved in to the date the switch actually happened.

How long ago did you move in?
