Name of the android app that shows what apps are running

So I'm trying to work out the name of the android app that shows what apps are running.
The reason:
I recently bought my daughter a child safe android tablet. She was complaining that it was slow and realising that she hadn't closed any apps ever, I figured that I'd show her how to close the apps - only to discover I couldn't, because the app isn't white/allow listed. In order to put it onto the white/allow list I need to know what it is called.
I can easily change to parental mode, click the white square, then swipe the apps she doesn't need off the screen, but she can't, when she clicks the white square she gets an error message saying that the app isn't in the whitelist.
Seems like a bit of a design flaw, but potentially if only I know the name of the app I can fix it.

Shouldn't there be a built-in system option to show recent apps? That's what I've always had on any Android device I have ever had.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.2

Unless it is a decade old version of Android then there is no use for app managers anymore. The OS itself handles background apps itself and has done for a long while. It will run under the system account so will not need whitelisting to be running.
More likely a poorly coded app running in the foreground.2 -
On my android tablet, i click.the three lines on the bottom of the screen. Up.pops a list of running apps, and I select 'close all'2

Incorrect.
Tapping the three lines (show recent apps) and then 'close all' closes the apps, even background ones.

Thanks for all the suggestions, unfortunately they don't really solve the problem.[Shouldn't there be a built-in system option to show recent apps? That's what I've always had on any Android device I have ever had.
Yep - there is that is the one I'm trying to find the name of. As in if I login I simply click the icon and up pops the list. My daughter however gets the message to say the app isn't in the whitelist. But as I don't know the name I can't add it to the white list.On my android tablet, i click.the three lines on the bottom of the screen. Up.pops a list of running apps, and I select 'close all' - this is the problem those apps at the bottom don't have names so she can't open them, as I can't white list them.0 -
What model of tablet is it?
I think this will help - yes I do appreciate you are trying to find a specific app that you can't remember the name of but I can't really help you remember....

The table is a pretom https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BHNVPV84?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
This from your top link is perfectly relevant(ish)
If only the app was actually called "Recent apps" I'd have my solution, however, when I search for apps on the tablet there isn't/doesn't appear to be one called "Recent apps" to allow me to add it.
