Complaint against a heating company

I would be grateful for some advice.
I had engaged a heating company for repairing our boiler (the hot water used to heat up whenever we switched on heating). They were awful - the arrogant 'you don't know anything woman' engineer they sent from the company was 100% certain it was one thing - which didn't work and the same pattern followed several times over. And the problem was not solved. They are now billing me for £940. I have now found someone who looks like he actually knows what he is doing - very experience, realized that it was more complex than a programmer (which is what the other guy had said in less than 30 sec when I knew it was not), and will be doing this for us.
I have written the formal complaint (previously had sent an email which they had ignored), and intend to escalate this further. The lady from the citizens advice bureau said that I need to call her back if there is no response from them in the given time.
My questions are 1) I don't think this company will relent - so it looks like we are heading the ADR way. I have never had to use them before. Has anyone used this service and found a solution that they were happy with?
2) I don't want a county court judgement without my knowledge - if they are going to take me to court, I presume I will be kept informed by them?
I am so angry with them that I happy to lose more money for the sole purpose of not paying them.
Thanks for reading.

Companies do not have to have complaints procedure.
I would be looking to get a 3rd party report on the issue.
Are the company registered re ADR? Many companies are not part of these schemes.
They would have to serve notice of going to court & you get chance to put your defence.Life in the slow lane1 -

It's not just the fact that they haven't done it, they are charging for more time than they have worked for, replacement not needed, even the replacement they took away as I pointed out that it was not needed.0 -
Did you sign any contract or made aware of their T&Cs? Also did you employ them to fault-find or repair?sunshines said:Correct.
