Not sure if you know but a couple of longstanding posters are not posting anymore . Jamesd and Thugelmir.
On the other hand some of the anti IFA rhetoric seems to have died down.

Thanks I noticed the absence of Thrugelmir's unique dose of realism injected into most threads. I remember Jamesd was more active on the pensions forum and for now I'm mostly going to stick to Savings & Investments and the ISA sub-forum given time constraints.

... oh yes Jamesd ... I learned a lot from his posts and prepared threads in my pension planning.

I was going to say really he deserves 10% commission (if there were any recent gain ... but maybe that's due his absence),  but we still have @dunstonh who's 112 now and @Linton.

For anyone still interested the £110 cashback on a £1k S&S ISA offer has moved from TopCashBack to Quidco. Although the BestInvest platform fee is not cheap at 0.4% it's only £4 on £1k over a year and you can of course invest in an index tracker or multi asset fund that can be later transferred to a cheaper platform. Ideal for those who are not in a position to use much of their S&S ISA allowance this tax year with the first 11% of any market falls covered by the incentive.

@Alexland came across this thread by chance. I also noticed your absence and  also sorry to hear about your tough year personally, you have been a great source of knowledge and tips on this forum (along with others too) on our investment 'journeys'.

In fact one of your recent posts on another thread has alerted me to the Lloyds £1k offer for transferring S&SISA's which I think looks too good to miss...for me anyway!

As far as I can see, you need to transfer a Million Pounds to get the £1K .
The current HL S&S ISA transfer offer, means you get £1K for transferring £100K. ( £500 for £100K at Lloyds)
Of course HL's fees are generally more expensive but you can keep these down by mainly investing in ETF's or IT's

Fidelity are also offering £500 for transferring £80K to them.

I should of known it's too good to be true...or in my case didn't read the small print :(
Thanks for highlighting Albermarle...I was getting a bit ahead of myself....

I don't need to move right now but am thinking it would be optimal to move to a platform with more invetsments range than Vanguard-only and cheaper funds with similar performance however current value is nowhere near £80k so maybe I will hold for now (single fund FTSE Global All CAP so fairly simple and minimal overhead etc).

SIPP +JISA both currently with Fidelity, I do prefer to use multiple platforms to avoid all investments being concentrated on a single platform....its a minor point but for those 'just in case scenarios'.

    @Alexland
A belated welcome back from me too. So sorry to hear the reason for your absence but sounds like you can now start the next chapter. Look after yourself & your children.

I have realised I mad a mistake. Maybe I was looking at a previous cashback offer via Google.
The current offer is £1000 for transferring £100K
Get cashback when you transfer an account with Bestinvest | Bestinvest

The T's & C's are not entirely clear. It says you have to initiate the transfer before April 30th. The cashback will be paid 6 months after that date,  as long as you have had the funds invested for 6 months.
I can not see if you have to transfer in cash, or in specie is possible.
In the latter case you could initiate transfer in April but delays are common, and it might take months for it to happen.
In which case by October you might well have been invested significantly less than 6 months, so what happens then?

For an in specie transfer, a list of holdings would be provided towards the start of the process. In my view it would be unreasonable of Bestinvest not to consider those holdings as invested from the date they are known just because of delays in the process. It is very unlikely any in specie transfer initiated during late April would meet the conditions if they treated holdings as uninvested until transferred.
