You’ll need to provide more information about what benefit you have been paid and what your circumstances were were gave rise to it.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

I received bereavement support payment as my partner died in 2018 we where together but not married and had 2 children0

They must have made an adjustment for other benefits received during that time...did they say they would send a breakdown?1

I would have expected the payment to be £9800. If you only got £6300 ask them why they arrived at that figure.
The £6300 is equivalent to £350 x 18 monthly payments but doesn’t include the £3500 lump sum.

Maybe the OP's partner died before 30 August 2018.
If you were living together as though you were married with the person who died
You’ll get a first payment of £3,500 and then up to 18 monthly payments of £350.
You may get fewer payments if:
- your partner died after 9 February 2023 and you claim more than 3 months after your partner’s death
- your partner died before 30 August 2018

£6300 would be £3500 plus 8 payments of £350.
What is the date of birth of your youngest child?

Good point - I had forgotten that the starting date for a retrospective payment was 30th August 2018. Thanks for highlighting that. However I still can’t see how the payment got down to £6,300 for a death in 2018. Even if the death were in January 2018 I would still expect £3,500 plus 11 x £350 which would be £7,350.wilfred30 said:Maybe the OP's partner died before 30 August 2018.If you were living together as though you were married with the person who died
