  • I can't really see how an oil and filter change is integral to a recall which deals with the braking system. I think the repairing garage are trying it on to get an added sale.

    What engine is it?

There seems to be a couple of TSB's.
One is due to a brake problem with the 1.6 CDTi
And another due to the wet belt on the 1.2T.

If it's the wet belt, you would think they'd have to drain the oil before they inspected it so why would you pay for clean oil for them to throw it away almost immediately?

There has alse been grumblings about dealers charging for "enviromental disposal" of brake fluid on the 1.6 CDTi problem that have upset owners.

***There has alse been grumblings about dealers charging for "enviromental disposal" of brake fluid on the 1.6 CDTi problem that have upset owners.*** Might have changed but there used to be an item on the bill called **Consumables**  Tat was supposed to cover such items as Brake Fluid. They went onto Aerosols of cleaner and lubricants simular tp WD40 - The part used cans were then put in the customers car.

Years ago the labour part of a service would be say £10.00 - That was calculated on the basis One third each Labour - Overheads and profit. On that basis with many main dealer charges mechanics/technicians should be paid around £60.00 an hour

Basically it is a con trick. Dealers are reimbursed for lubricants on a recall - they just don't like the manufacturer setting a fair price instead of the rip charges.

I suggest a formal complaint to Vauxhall with a copy tp DVLA and Trading Standards.
