Access to Work Taxi query
The DWP site is as clear as mud on how this works. Someone had mentioned you need to get quotes from a taxi firm. You pay yourself and claim it back; which is fine.
Does it need to be a contract with the single taxi firm with strict pick up times etc or can you use any firm - Uber has been consistently better than black cabs recently - and keep the receipts to claim. I can be different times and different days week to week.
Anyone use the scheme?

the work colleagues I used to help with ATW were normally on fixed shifts so would have a contract with a specific taxi firm and normally a regular driver. (one actually met her husband that way...)
I would suggest you go ahead and get quotes including from Uber and then submit a claim so you get a definite response on how it works for you. One would hope that they will go along with what works best for you especially if on varied shifts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. About the same time as the ADP application. At least that one was backdated.0 -
You can use any firm but wont get more than the agreed amount. So if uber charge more than the agreed amount you need to pay the difference yourself

Bumping this to ask what the outcome was, since it's of interest to another member presently?

I don't use the scheme anymore as I got a motibility car.
Back then they didn't request any proof of the Uber trip cost and just took my word on trip cost when calculating the grant amount/award for the 3 year period. I supposed times had changed from the old black cab contracts.
Submitted the receipts downloaded from the Uber app and uploaded them monthly to the portal.
