Why are people judged by their cars/value of cars?

My car history says I need a pillow on my face with added weight. I couldn't care what car I drive as long as I get from A to B but I'm epileptic so grateful I am able to drive.I understand having a comfortable car or a stylish car but its people with high powered sports cars that never go on a track that baffles me. It screams "my knowledge of cars hasn't changed sine I was 7" As they smash the heck out the engine hoping to impress. It bewilders me that my brother has bought 2 'high powered' cars in his life and spent twice as long paying off the finance as he has owning them.May you find your sister soon Helli.

To be fair, a proper sports car can be a hoot to drive even within the rules of the road, and having a decent amount of power makes driving easier since you don't need to worry so much about gears, hills etc.
Of course, given the choice I'd rather have a proper track car and a proper track, but I've not got the space or money for 2 cars so I need to make do. Thankfully I'm at that stage of life where a big wallowy MPV does the job fine. I'd still have a Caterham or a Morgan in a heartbeat though.
