Or open an account somewhere that pays an even better rate such as Zopa and move it there!

Do Cynergy not allow you to secure message them and then they upgrade it with the same account number etc.? Just wondering, as not a customer, but Sainsburys do IIRC

Cynergy have an option called 'Transfer and close'. You have to open an account for the new issue number.

I think it's Shawbrook who you can message and they upgrade the existing account.

Sainsbury's you have to open a new account and transfer then message to have the old account closed and the accrued interest transferred. Or message for the transfer and close but that can mean your money staying on the lower rate for a few days longer.

Do cynergy use the same clearing bank as charter?

I have just tried to transfer 1 pound into cynergy after transferring a chunk in charter and my bank says daily transfer limit has been reached. I was under the impression this was a limit per payee

That would be a daily payment limit set by your Bank. Nothing to do with Charter or Cynergy, who also are not connected.
