    So it looks like we should buy 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 before the deadline and speak to someone about the "checking" years - are 15/16 and 16/17 also subject to the 2023 deadline?

    No, any years 2015-16 and earlier cannot add value to the pension, they are worthless.  2016-17 is also subject to the April deadline.
