Aldi’s version of Toblerone, its Mountain Bar, does not only taste better it’s probably some of the nicest chocolate I’ve ever tasted. And a lot cheaper than Toblerone.

I’ve noticed the quality (and volume) of a lot of established brands has gone down in recent years. I’m theorising that they’re on the final curve of the marketing journey: “once your brand is established and people buy into it, you can do whatever you like with it and the gullible fools will keep on purchasing it.”

Brands we’ve dropped recently: anything by Heinz, Tesco ketchup, Whiskas cat food, Weetabix, Yorkshire Tea, soon to be dropping Andrex

Looks like Hubbards (Sainsbury's) baked beans have been discontinued, along with a few other Hubbards products e.g. cup soup.

Don't buy Tesco ketchup.  I succumbed to getting it as it's cheaper than Heinz.  And as ketchup it's fine but it's in a squeezy bottle and it's impossible to squirt out just a small amount.  You have to realllllly squeeze it and then it shoots out a massive amount - and usually not where you want it.

M&S ketchup is cheap too but not as nice as Heinz.

How do you get a small amount out of a non squeezy bottle?

The best ketchup I've ever had was from the company that do the tiny jams... I think it's rowntrees, I'll find the name...

Tomato ketchup - having spent nearly a lifetime on Heinz only, a while ago I started buying Waitrose own as it was about a quarter of the price. Last order I got Heinz as a substitute and now know that I definitely prefer Waitrose. Maybe I've just got used to the difference, but that's no bad thing if it saves money.
