So you need to deposit the £10 monthly fee at the same time of as opening the account to avoid being overdrawn?
Bit tricky if you don't have the a/c number or sort code.

These get emailed to you and display immediately after completing the application.

I have these but also mistakenly thought I needed a reference number to transfer into the account.

I must of missed the bit where the account needed to be funded immediately.

I'm presuming that I am now overdrawn by a few pence and that is all.

Unable to check online or via the app as I need to wait for the posted verification code and also unable to get through on the help line  :/

    Ok managed to get through.

Overdrawn by 0.35p but no one knows why and advised that there may be a system issue. Oh Lloyds it appears you have not changed one bit.

Yes, but you can't do online or mobile app banking without the activation code which is sent in the post (up to 7 days).

I suppose you could go blind and transfer in some money, but based on Lloyds extremely efficient fee deduction it might need to be a CHAPS payment. HOW MUCH?  :o

    Update ...

Received the activation code this morning.

I setup online banking and logged in only to find that the 71p fee had not been cancelled (see earlier post). I phoned Customer Service who raised a complaint and added £15 compensation + £1 roundup to the £199.29 incentive already sitting there (application was made less than 3 days ago).

Switch due to complete on the 8th March.

Good to know thanks. I'll give them a call.
  • Is it too late to open a Starling or Monzo bank a/c today and open and initiate a switch to Lloyds to get this offer?

Bit tight but do-able if you can get the details of the debit card on the doner account by COB tomorrow and you have a Lloyds account good to go. Monzo used to give you these details before the physical card was dispatched.

Any hitch in the process will scupper this switch, are you eligible for the NatWest/RBS/Ulster switch, don't think there's an end-date on those yet?
