    Hi

Water softener and regular cleaning keeps it nice and shinny. But if you do encounter problems, then a branded liquid and elbow grease will do the trick

Thanks for the advice on here. We have a septic tank- would vinegar be ok to use?
Also, my problem is that cement or grout or something similar got left in the bowl when the renovation was done. Would vinegar help with this- or would something stronger be needed?
You might be able to remove with vinegar
Otherwise   there is cement removing liquid from HG
AFAIK vinegar fine for septic tank

see these quotes from Google (I asked about ceramic tiles)

How do you remove dried cement from floor tiles?
Cover the cement stain with a towel that is soaked in vinegar and leave it there for around two-three hours. As the cement starts to loosen up, just use the scouring pad to scrub it off and remove the stains. Finally, just apply the dishwashing liquid to the scrubbed part and scrub thw tiles and floor using a sponge.
    and
Remove cement stains or mortar with vinegar. Cement on a floor dissolves in acid, so that's why you can use vinegar. ...

Just to add I've never had cheapest coke work- wouldn't bother again! we have very very hard water.
I sometimes use white vinegar or a branded toilet cleaner- max for limescale: own brands don't seem to be strong enough

trying to be frugal with water doesn't help matters!!

  • Citric acid is more effective than vinegar and completely natural.  It’s pretty cheap to buy citric acid crystals online, possibly also in hardware shops.
