How can I prevent and remove lime scale in my toilet in an eco Old Style way?
I’m currently pouring acid down the toilet a number of times a year. I’ve heard that coke or vinegar can do the job. Can you suggest something works?
Thanks ;0)

Try sprinkling baking soda on first and then adding the vinegar. Will bubble a lot.3

You can't prevent it unless you get a water softener installed but I just throw a handful of citric acid down there, leave it overnight then scrub well.Vinegar is acetic acid and coke is also citric acid, so it's all acid..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi2

This is from Nancy Birtwistle to get rid of limescale, and for a multitude of stains:

Yes, baking soda is bicarbonate of soda - and the amount doesn't matter; just sprinkle it on where the lime scale is.1

But doesn't bicarb / baking soda and vinegar make just water & carbon dioxide when combined?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Floss - they bubble like crazy and stir things up. That's why they are good for putting down drains to clear them out also.2

For the bowl: line with toilet paper, spray with vinegar, leave to soak. Flush, brush, repeat if necessary.

Thanks for the advice on here. We have a septic tank- would vinegar be ok to use?
Also, my problem is that cement or grout or something similar got left in the bowl when the renovation was done. Would vinegar help with this- or would something stronger be needed?0
