Bought a used car from Big Motoring World and

I purchased a car that was advertised as having satnav. They did not have the SD card, so the salesman said it would be posted to me. It never came and I have since been told that because I signed saying that I did not have satnav when I took the car (which I signed, but on their word they would post me the card) - they did not have to send me one. I think it was underhand and dishonest. I have made a complaint to their head office - but is there any more I can do? Also, they removed the listing immediately following the sale and they claim to have no access afterwards (conveniently).

Sounds like previous owner removed it to sell..

Which make of car? As it might be possible to buy a blank SD card & download the files required. Certainly can with Kia/Hyundai

It is a mazda. I am sure I can buy one - but surely the point is that they sold me a car that was advertised as having satnav - and it doesn't. I feel I should not have to buy a card and I feel that they have been underhand.

Are you sure the car doesn't have satnav?
In my Kia the satnav is part of the in-car infotainment system. The SD card just carries the map data.
Do you have a button or screen icon labelled 'Nav'? If so yours will be the same as mine.

    How old is your car?
Many people never bother to update the map data. You are probably due an update anyway.

You do have satnav, you just don't have the SD card with the mapping data on it. At least that's my interpretation.

if its an old car with an old SD card the sat nav will be pretty much useless, you will be better off either buying an Sd card with up to date maps or using Google maps on your phone

Mine too.  If the system is present then it meets the description.

OP, what remedy are you looking for?

    I have to disagree

If a card is needed and it's not included then it's just a screen

I can see your point.  Perhaps a better way of putting it is that "satellite navigation" or "satnav" might fairly describe a working system, i.e. with a card and therefore functioning, whereas "satnav system" might be a fair descriptor for a system without a card.  I suspect a small claims court would agree with you rather than me, but equally, we could be talking about something so trivially inexpensive that OP may as well just buy the card and maps themselves.

Don't disagree as the OP signed for it not having a Sat-Nav.

I asked the OP 'How old is your car?

Mazda say 'You can update the map data on your navigation SD card to the latest version with the map update tool. Mazda offers 5 years free map updates'
