Utility warehouse budget

Since joining UW for electric only we are constantly being told of increased budget required. Our life style hasn't changed to use more electric but the smart meter supplied by UW keeps saying over budget and up goes the price. Is this a fix?

It is likely related to the increase in energy costs. What is your annual usage in kWh and what region are you in and someone on here can calculate an estimated cost.
  • Just for clarification, could you describe exactly what you mean by “smart meter supplied by UW keeps saying over budget”?

As in, when you say the smart meter is saying this, are you possibly referring to the small device with a display screen you may have been given that you plug in somewhere? Or is this something that UW have sent to you in a letter/email based on what your smart meter is communicating to them?
    Moo…
  • Hi,
are you talking about the IHD, if so, what is budget set at, is that your setting or the default setting?

Not with UW but I set my budget to £2 a day.  I know full well at this time of year I stand no chance and the IHD often shows red but over the course of the year I will be fine.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Ignore what the little gadget in the house that tells you your use in £'s says - are UW asking you to increase your DD though?

If they are then you need to check that the actual smart meter itself is sending readings - best way of doing that to start with would be to check the last couple of bills and make sure the readings are shown annotated "S" or "Smart" rather than as estimates. Often if for whatever reason a supplier isn''t getting readings from a smart meter that can lead to overestimations and so a demand for increased payments, even when that may not actually be needed.

If the readings are being sent OK and the bills look accurate, then probably the next thing is to check what UW say about your estimated annual use, and then check that against what you have actually used in the last 12 months - do those match up, at least roughly?
