I've used the HG spray and it's really powerful effective stuff. Brought my bathroom tile grout back to new looking on the walls. However, it specifically says NOT FOR CEILINGS. Presumably this is to stop you spraying it all over yourself as it's a strong chlorine solution that's fairly runny/thin and will probably burn a lot, and will also drip onto whatever is below. Also stinks the room out for 24 hours so needs good ventilation.
Oops I didn't read that and used it on my bathroom ceiling! I second the comments that it is very powerful. That and Cilit Bang Black Mould Remover are the best things I've tried. I stood on a step ladder as far away as possible so I was spraying it as horizontally as I could, rather than spraying it directly above myself if that makes sense.

Well worth investing in a pair of goggles in this situation. Bleach in your eyes can be very unpleasant.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I spray the remover onto a sponge and then use that to wipe over the ceiling - the sponge side of one of those dishwashing sponge scrubbers works well - doing it this way means you don't get the same amount of aerosols, and avoid bleaching yourself or other areas.

You should also sort out the bathroom ventilation - a fan with a humidstat will help stop the issue returning.

Diluted bleach; it's as good as it gets. Cheap and very effective.
  • I was on a constant cycle of removing mould until I tried to stop the source, I found a compact dehumidifier sorted it out. I only put it on now and then but it keeps it at bay. I tried the mini disposable ones but they didn't cut the mustard. looked at the aircon machines, but they were expensive. Finally, settle on a comfee cube dehumidifier and it is great. even managed to get a discount just by asking!

I've used HG Mould Spray on my bathroom ceiling and it worked a treat - as someone else said, the bottle says not for ceilings but that's almost definitely because they don't want to be sued by someone who does it and then stands right beneath it with their eyes wide open.

Wear some goggles, a hat/hood, and rubber gloves and spray as far away from yourself as possible and you'll be fine. It is quite watery but I did not notice any dripping at all really.

Make sure to rinse it off with water afterwards, too, and you'll need to ventilate for a good few hours before the smell dissipates. It is very effective stuff though

Then repaint with Zinsser Permawhite and it shouldn't come back

Here's something I learned when we reopened after one of them lockdowns.

When cleaning a surface never spray directly on to it, always spray your cloth and wipe that across the surface. The air movement from the spray could lift and disperse particles, spraying your cloth eliminates that :) It'll stop it hanging about in the air and dropping on your eyes or breathing it in too.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
