We're exchanging and completing on the same day. I'm just worried about this being seen by the solicitor as a neighbour dispute.

    I'm 5ft 3 I can't move/lift/break the panels on my own.
If they are in decent condition (despite their age) someone might be interested in them to get a few more years out of them. If you can list them somewhere for free you will surprised what people will want. I had an old shed I wanted rid of, the base was rotting and some of the side bits were also rotting - I listed it on ebay starting at 99p and it sold for over £80, I mainly wanted someone to take it down and remove it!

And agree with others above, what an !!!!!! of a neighbour. If he wanted to replace the fence he should be clearing away the old one too imo, but everyone has their own morals (or lack of) I suppose.

Fence panels will (usually) be treated, and quite possibly had a coat or two of preservative applied since putting up. Treated/painted wood should not be burnt in a stove or open fire.
An old panel should break down with the aid of a hammer  Once in small enough pieces, it will fit in most cars.

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

@Yasmina if at all possible I'd take a hammer to them (as @FreeBear has suggested) and imagine said panels are the horrid neighbour....

Your local community Facebook page is your friend. If they are usable as panels, put them on Marketplace for 'free'. If they are scrap, then enquire about a local handyperson or 'man with van' to dispose of them. Just get shot of them - it'll cost you a bit, but big deal in the scheme of things.

Please don't advertise them as 'firewood', even tho' I guess you can't really stop some unscrupulous person from doing this. But it will stink, and worse.

I had fence panels to dispose of when I moved recently. They were about 15 years old.  I got a big builders sack, and smashed the panels into tiny little pieces and filled the sack.  It was quite satisfying actually, and the sack was not as heavy as you might expect.  The smaller you smash the pieces, the more fits in.  It then took two of us to lift it into the back of a hatch back and take it down to the tip.

If exchange/Completion is tomorrow  you've left it a bit late to take action.

    * being 5'3" does not stop you using a hammer to smash them up, put in your car, and take to the tip, or
    * pay an odd job man you know with car/van to take them, or
    * use yellow pages/google to find a man+ van, or gardener, or waste company to remove them, or
    * ring the buyer (or your EA) and see if they mind, maybe even offer £50 so they can arrange removal, or
    * advertise on freecycle with a photo - someone might take them away for free (though time is short.......)
    * do nothing. Wait and see if buyers complain

If I were your buyer I'd be p*ssed off to find them in the garden, but having said that I'd just smash them up and take to the tip

Good for you Yazmina, your buyer's will appreciate it.  As for your neighbour, what goes around, comes around.
